The end of January saw Acre (Action with Communities in Rural England) celebrate Village Halls Week. This is a national campaign, shining a spotlight on the contribution England’s 10,000+ village halls make to rural communities.
As part of our celebrations, Applause’s community engagement lead Alice Hiller was featured on BBC Radio Kent’s ‘The Wake Up Call’ discussing all things rural touring.

Alongside this interview, we spoke with one of our regular village hall host’s Kate Britten, about her experience of hosting performances at Shoreham Village Hall.
For an artist’s perspective, we spoke to Ross from the Conn Artists Theatre Company who started touring to village halls with Applause in 2021.
