Milton Hide, Jim Tipler and Jo Church from East Sussex, weave eloquent, well-crafted story-based songs, introducing a host of intriguing and memorable characters on the way.
Jim’s guitar and Jo’s clarinet blend perfectly with the duo’s pure vocal harmonies. Their music has been described by critics as “a touch of Fleetwood Mac” and “vintage Steeleye” (Spiral Earth).
Building on Jim’s experience of many years in folk and roots bands, they joined forces as Milton Hide in 2016 and have toured extensively around the UK at such diverse venues as the Telescope Dome at Herstmonceux, the Golden Hinde in London and Bodiam Castle in East Sussex. They have appeared at Folk clubs and Festivals from Western Scotland to South East England, from Northumberland to South Devon and from East Anglia to West Wales.
The duo love to share the inspiration behind their songs and to gather new inspiration in an Audience Book passed around at every performance. Whatever the size of stage or audience, the duo own the space and keep the listeners engaged introducing a host of intriguing and memorable characters on the way.
