Sheffield, 1989. Loveable, eccentric septuagenarian, Hilda, has run a second-hand clothes shop for decades. She does it to make money to feed 30 stray cats. One day, a journalist from the Guardian walks in and decides to write about her. 35 years later, her granddaughter decides to do some family research, and delves into her childhood memories of helping her grandma in the shop.
Join Julie Flower, for a solo, multi-character show about family history subverting expectations. Step inside Grandma’s shop, a nostalgic and atmospheric world of old carrier bags, pools coupons and vintage clothes…presided over by an unlikely punk icon. Grandma’s Shop had a successful run at Gilded Balloon at Edinburgh Fringe 2024 and has also played the fringe festivals in Brighton and Tunbridge Wells.
