Musa Mboob is a Gambian master percussionist, vocalist, and cultural ambassador whose music blends the rich traditions of Afro-Manding rhythms with elements of jazz, funk, and soul.
Musa leads his acclaimed band XamXam, who are a vibrant collective of musicians from Gambia and the UK.
Born into a family of musicians, including his father, the celebrated percussionist Doudou M’Boob, Musa began performing professionally in 1985. His exceptional skill and stage presence soon earned him national recognition as Gambia’s leading percussionist. With a career spanning decades, he has performed at major cultural festivals, toured internationally, and worked with a wide range of artists and ensembles, all while staying deeply connected to his West African heritage.
