Applause were delighted to partner with the Rural Touring Dance Initiative on a recent Digital Dance Project. This scheme aimed to bring dance to new digital audiences, alongside delivering a brand new experience to young people whilst they also learnt new skills.
Facilitated by Applause and Creative Arts East, Jamaal Burkmar’s Extended Play dancers visited Hillview School in Kent and CityMoves Dance in Aberdeen. They taught a creative dance workshop followed by a virtual Q&A with Jamaal. The final result was an Instagram Reel created by Extended Play featuring footage of the final performances from both spaces. To date the Reel has been viewed 2,243 times.

The dancers really felt supported in the workshops. The dancers got instant feedback from the young people, which showed that the process worked.
