The commission application deadline has been extended until Wednesday 28 September 2022.
For 2023 we are offering a number of opportunities for artists
To tour alongside our previously commissioned work, we are looking to support up to 6 new shows to be created for touring in 2023, along with some seed funding opportunities to support artists at earlier stages of developing their creative practice.
Applause Commission and Reshape/Development Awards
- Small scale outdoor works: commission fees up to £4000
This opportunity is for companies with a track record in creating or performing work outdoors to support the creation of a new small-scale work. Alongside this we also offer our commissioned companies a minimum number of touring dates across our network.
- Small scale outdoor work that requires a reshape/development: development fees between £500 – £2500
Existing outdoor work that requires some reshaping/development to tour rurally. Alongside this we also offer our Development Award companies a minimum number of touring dates across our network.
In collaboration with Creative Estuary, we are offering the following commission and seed funding opportunities. Priority for both Creative Estuary opportunities below will be given to artists from minority ethnic and migrant backgrounds who are working in the Creative Estuary region of North Kent and South Essex. However, we would also like to hear from underrepresented artists who may be working outside the CE region but are based in the Southeast.
- 2 x Co-commission with Creative Estuary: commission fees up to £5000
For artists who are already working in, interested in or who are developing performances for Outdoor contexts with a focus on dance and contemporary circus. Alongside this we also offer a minimum number of touring dates across our network.
- 5 x seed funding opportunities: fees up to £500 (supported by Creative Estuary and Mercury Theatre, Colchester)
The focus will not be on presenting a finished piece of work but supporting the research, development or the creation of new outdoor performance works. This work will not form part of our 2023 touring menu. Artists will be asked for information about themselves and what impact the seed fund will have on their project or creative practice.
