The Let’s Play THURROCK! project will see Applause teaming up with performance company Casson & Friends to locally create and tour a brand-new version of participatory dance work ARCADE, performed by and working with an intergenerational cast from the Thurrock area.
In the lead up, free workshops will be happening throughout May, June and July for anyone 18 and over. The workshops are 30-60 minutes long and will include games, some you might know, some will be new, and some chat. You can take part on your own or bring along your friends – these workshops are for everyone – you just need to bring your playful side and an enthusiasm to play with others!

- If you’re from a community group, we can come to you. We can be flexible with times and the length of sessions to fit in with your availability. Just tell us a bit about your group, when and where you usually meet, and we’ll be in touch!
- If you’re not part of a group, we’re running open workshops for people from all over Thurrock. Just sign up and we’ll let you know when they’re happening.
Let’s Play THURROCK! is a collaboration between Casson & Friends and Applause Rural Touring, supported by Start Thurrock, and commissioned by Creative Estuary and Applause Rural Touring. The project has been chosen as one of 11 co-commissions to help turn the Thames Estuary into a world renowned cultural hub by exploring the rich past and engage with the local communities of six towns in London, Essex and Kent, linked by the historic waterway.
The Creative Estuary project will include live performances, workshops, filmmaking, immersive art and storytelling from a diverse group of artists and companies.
